INDUSTRIAL ANTI-GRAFFITI COATINGS

Graffiti paint removers

The process of graffiti removal is often a difficult and time-consuming task. Not infrequently, it also involves a high financial outlay.Meanwhile, the result is not at all guaranteed, especially if the right graffiti removers are not used.
Washing off graffiti - how to choose the right preparation ?

Washing off graffiti is a problem that is not easy to solve, especially since the longer the apllied paint remains on the facade, the more difficult it is to remove. This is caused by the penetration of dyes into the structure of the surface of the material to which they were apllied, also the fixation of graffiti paint by atmospheric conditions, such as the sun and varying temperatures. Using the wrong graffiti remover can damage the surface and hinder possible future cleaning, so it is very important to choose the right remover for the type of substrate, so as not to damage the cleaned surface in the process.

New cleaning technology

Thanks to a new KT Removers product line, graffiti removal is more time-efficient, less complicated and most importantly, does not damage original surfaces.
Due to the chemical composition of graffiti paints, our removers either contain organic solvents or they are alkaline water-based solutions which decompose dyes thus enabling hydrodynamic removal of the paint remains by means of a brush, cloth or sponge.

Anti-graffiti Professional KT Removers are also efficient on various substrates without prior application of anti-graffiti coating. When removing paint from unprotected absorbent surfaces, if a liquid cleaner is used, it may result in further penetration of the paint into the substrate and the increased stain of solved paint on the surface. It is recommended to use gel rather than liquid solvents in such cases, to bind the paint, delay solvent vaporisation and prolong chemical reaction time.

Preparations for cleaning noise barriers and facades from garffiti paint.

KT Removers are available in the form of both liquid (for non-absorbent surfaces) and gel (for absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces). Removers can also be used on surfaces where anti-graffiti coatings have been applied. The removers presented below are organised starting from  their low power of impact on the most sensitive surfaces to the most powerful ones for use on solvent-resistant surfaces. Our removers are excellent formulations for cleaning noise barriers and building facades from garffiti paint.

Types of the Anti-graffiti Professional KT Removers

KT 01: liquid preparation for use on delicate, smooth, non-absorbent surfaces sensitive to strong solvents. It does not cause the matte effect on the cleaned surface. KT 01 is the weakest of all the Anti-graffiti Professional KT Removers line. Applicable on multi-chamber/solid  polycarbonate, Plexiglas, laminates, plastics, foils, varnish coatings. Suitable for lifts, toilets, telephone booths, bus shelters, acoustic screens, schools, railway carriages, trams, buses, cars, road signs, advertising foils and boards as well as permanent anti-graffiti coatings.

KT 01+: gel preparation for use on delicate, smooth and porous non-absorbent surfaces sensitive to strong solvents. It does not cause the matte effect on the cleaned surface. It is the weakest of all the Anti-graffiti Professional KT Removers line. Applicable on multi-chamber/solid  polycarbonate, Plexiglas, laminates, plastics, foils, varnish coatings. Suitable for lifts, toilets, telephone booths, bus shelters, acoustic screens, schools, railway carriages, trams, buses, cars, road signs, advertising foils and boards as well as permanent anti-graffiti coatings.

KT 02: liquid preparation for use on smooth non-absorbent surfaces. It is the second weakest of all the Anti-graffiti Professional KT Removers line. Applicable on laminates, plastics, foils, metals, aluminium, glass, industrially-painted surfaces, ceramics. May be tentatively used on surfaces sensitive to aggressive solvents, such as multi-chamber/solid polycarbonate, after a test trial. Suitable for lifts, toilets, telephone booths, bus shelters, acoustic screens, schools, railway carriages, trams, buses, road signs, advertising foils and boards as well as permanent  anti-graffiti coatings.

Applicable on laminates, plastics, foils, metals, aluminium, glass, wood, industrially-painted surfaces, ceramics. May be tentatively used on surfaces sensitive to aggressive solvents, such as multi-chamber/solid polycarbonate, after a test trial. Suitable for lifts, toilets, telephone booths, bus shelters, acoustic screens, schools, on, railway carriages, trams, buses, road signs, advertising foils and boards as well as permanent anti-graffiti coatings.

KT 03: liquid preparation for use on smooth non-absorbent surfaces. It is the third in terms of its strength of all the Anti-graffiti Professional KT Removers line. Applicable on laminates, plastics, foils, metals, aluminium, glass, industrially-painted surfaces, ceramics. KT 04: liquid preparation for use on smooth non-absorbent surfaces resistant to aggressive solvents. It is the fourth in terms of its strength of all the Anti-graffiti Professional KT Removers line. Applicable on metals, glazed brick, glass, ceramics and permanent anti-graffiti coatings in short-term exposure. May be cautiously used on plastics. The effectiveness of the preparation depends on the substarte, the thickness of the layers, the type of paint , the period of "existence" of a given paint on the surface of the ambient temperature. Higher air temperatures affect the faster and more effective action of the preparation.

Removal of graffiti paint from a block of flats

Chemical-based graffiti removal from permanent coating KTX 15

Successful graffiti removal from an unprotected surface depends on:

  • Chemical composition of the graffiti paint,
  • Graffiti exposure period on the given substrate,
  • Outdoor temperature during paint application,
  • Substrate sensitivity to solvents,
  • Substrate absorptiveness.

It is the easiest to remove graffiti from smooth and solvent-resistant surfaces (glass, metals, ceramics etc.) It is also usually possible to remove graffiti quite easily from solid, slightly absorbent mineral substrates, clinker or granite with use of suitable cleaning media or/and hydrodynamic devices.

Graffiti paint can also be removed from porous building materials (sandstone, plaster or concrete): in such cases full removal of graffiti paint, despite using chemical and mechanical cleaning methods, may be impossible due to pigments’ penetration of the substrate as deep as 10 mm. Cleaning may only affect the surface of the substrate; the particles of paint which have penetrated deeper into the substrate may remain visible as a so called “shadow” effect. Mechanical removal of this residue may cause visible changes to the surface texture. It can also be risky to remove graffiti from substrates which are not solvent-resistant, like e.g. multi-chamber polycarbonate.
