INDUSTRIAL ANTI-GRAFFITI COATINGS

Waterproofing

We offer two types of preparations used for hydrophobation of absorptive substrates made of concrete, reinforced concrete, used in road and bridge constructions, railroads, hydraulic  inland and marine engineering objects and in general constructions, including commercial, industrial and housing constructions as well as sport arenas and airport apron areas.

More about hydrophobizing preparation:

By selecting one of the following water repellents available in our offer, you will get detailed information about its action, scope of application, performance and method of application to substrate.

Hydrogard S – ready to use, solvent-based super-hydrophobic preparation, containing silane and siloxane compounds,

Hydrogard W – concentrate, water-based preparation with excellent consumption efficiency of up to 240 m² per 1 kg of the concentrate.

HYDROPHOBIZATION - what is it?

Hydrophobization is the process of protecting the surface from the penetration of water and contaminants, it involves saturating the concrete surface with a suitable chemical preparation. Hydrophobizing preparations do not form a  coating on the concrete surface and do not change the appearance of the concrete. Hydrophobization is a temporary protection and should be renewed every few years. As a result of hydrophobization, the material subjected to it gains hydrophobic properties, i.e. it repels water, causing a pearling effect. This type of protection can be used, among others, for concrete, reinforced concrete, stone, brick and other building materials. One way of water repellency is impregnation with a suitable preparation. Such a hydrophobizing agent provides a due level of protection against water and dirt, without restricting the circulation of water vapor. The effectiveness of water repellency depends largely on the physical properties of the surface to be protected - porosity, tightness, absorbency and the type and concentration of the preparation.

Why is water protection necessary ?

The reason for the use of water-repellent impregnation is by no means only concern for the appearance and aesthetics of a given pavement. Of key importance here is the fact that water penetrating without resistance into a given material can lead to corrosion of concrete and shortening of its strength.

Correctly executed hydrophobization of concrete provides:

  • increase frost resistance
  • reduces absorption of water, dust and dirt
  • increases resistence to UV radiation
  • prevents the formation of stains and efflorescence
  • improves resistance to weather and chemicals agents
  • limits the development of mold, fungi, mosses or algae

The advantage of hydrophobizing preparations is that they can be used on both new substartes and those undergoing upgrades or renovations. They are also usually easy to use, their application does not require specialized skills.
