INDUSTRIAL ANTI-GRAFFITI COATINGS

Anti-corrosion protection of concrete - KTX Elastic coating

Concrete, which is an extremely important element of every building structure, is exposed to weather conditions, as well as various mechanical loads, which can have an adverse effect on its properties or structure. These factors can also contribute to the formation of corrosion. It is therefore worth investing in preparations for anti-corrosion protection of concrete, such as the KTX Elastic coating we offer. The use of such agents will significantly increase the durability and solidity of the structure. The anti-corrosion paints for concrete that we offer, used as a protective coating, provide the concrete surface with resistance to moisture, extreme temperatures and UV radiation. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the properties of this preparation.

Description of the KT Elastic anti-corrosion paint for concrete:

KTX Elastic is a single-component preparation, creating a colorful anti-corrosion, flexible protective coating for concrete and masonry substrates with excellent scratch transfer properties down to -20°C. The preparation meets all the requirements for protective coatings intended for surface protection of concrete. This elastic paint for concrete has anti-corrosion, anti-graffiti, anti-poster properties. The surface protected with it is perfectly protected against aerosol graffiti paints, ink, posters, bird droppings and changing weather conditions.

KTX Elastic, after application, is a colorful anti-corrosion separation layer that prevents water and harmful substances from penetrating the substrate, and thanks to its strong anti-adhesive properties, it reduces the adhesion of paints, pigments, and adhesives, making it easier to remove them from the surface of the coating. The anti-corrosion paint for concrete offered by us is a diffusion-open preparation, has preservative properties and UV filters, thanks to which it preserves the colors of the protected surfaces, is quick-drying, hardens under the influence of moisture from the air, and also shows very good adhesion to concrete substrates.

The preparation is very efficient, which translates into low consumption.
The coating is available in colors from the RAL color palette.
The material meets the requirements of the PN EN 1504-2 standard as a protective coating.
National Technical Assessment IBDiM: No. IBDiM-KOT-2023/0952.

Application areas:

KTX Elastic for use as a colored elastic concrete paint, protects various concrete or reinforced concrete substrates in engineering road, bridge, railway structures, inland hydrotechnical facilities, industrial and sports facilities and as a topcoat for existing crack-bridging coatings. Increases the durability of all types of concrete structures exposed to crack formation.

Method of application:

After opening the container, mix the preparation thoroughly in its entire volume until a uniform consistency without discoloration and streaks is obtained, using a low-speed mixer. After mixing, it is ready for use. Do not dilute. Close the container after pouring the appropriate amount of material. Access of air to the coating will affect its slow hardening. The preparation is suitable for use even several months after opening, provided that the package is tightly closed and stored properly.

Conditions for application of the anti-corrosion coating:

  • relative air humidity up to 80%,
  • application temperature: from -5 to +35°C,
  • the temperature of the substrate should be at least 3°C higher than the dew point temperature at a given ambient temperature and humidity.

Number of coating layers:

  • the preparation is applied in two layers

The second layer of the coating should be applied approximately 3 hours after the first layer has hardened,
at a drying temperature of 22°C. There are no time limits for applying the second layer or replenishing the coating. In case of longer breaks between layers, the protected surface should be washed with water to remove dust and other atmospheric contaminants.

Priming:
In the case of very absorbent substrates or substrates with varying absorbency, PX 07 primer can be used in one layer. Protect the primed substrate from rain until the protective coating is applied.
The KTX Elastic coating should be applied to the primed substrate after the water has completely evaporated from the substrate, after it has dried - at least after 1 hour. Do not prime substrates covered with paints or protective coatings.
Application of PX 07 primer: +5 to +30°C.

Drying time of the KTX elastic coating at +22°C:

  • 1 hour - dust-dry,
  • 2 hours - dry, externally hardened, can be touched without so-called imprints,
  • 3 hours - hard,
  • 7 hours. - complete hardening,
  • 7 days - full chemical resistance.

Protect the coating from dirt until it is completely hardened. The times given are approximate, the actual times may vary depending on the layer thickness, ambient conditions, temperature, humidity, sunlight, wind. Suitable weather conditions must be maintained throughout the drying period of the coating. Applying the coating at lower temperatures extends the drying time.

Protect from rain for at least 3 hours from application at +22°C. The coating should be applied carefully to cover all irregularities and gaps in the material structure. Inaccurate application of the preparation may reduce the effectiveness of anti-corrosion protection and cause problems with removing graffiti paints. A uniform and sufficiently thick protective layer of the coating should be created on a rough and porous surface. In the event of streaks, spread the excess preparation with a roller on the substrate before it dries.

The preparation can be used in ventilated rooms. Individual production batches may differ slightly, therefore it is necessary to ensure a sufficient amount of paint from one production batch. The colour selected from the colour chart may not be identical to the chart after application. It is recommended to compare the colour sample with the chart in the same lighting conditions.

Application methods:

  • lint-free paint rollers,
  • pneumatic, airless spray, nozzle 12 to 18.

Consumption:

The basic principle is to apply 2 layers of anti-corrosion coating.

Theoretical coverage: 3 m²/L (333 ml/m²) to 6 m²/L (166 ml/m²).
Theoretical coverage is an approximate value defining the extreme amounts of consumption, which vary depending on the type of protected substrate.

Absorbent, smooth, compact, non-porous substrates:
4 m²/L (250 ml/m²) to 6 m²/L (166 ml/m²) in total for two layers, e.g. concrete - class C25.

Very absorbent, smooth, compact, non-porous substrates:
3 m²/L (333 ml/m²) to 5 m²/L (200 ml/m²) in total for two layers, e.g. lightweight concrete.

Practical efficiency - depends on individual cases and applications, including: conditions during application, application technique, shape and roughness of the protected surface, as well as the absorbency of the substrate and losses occurring during application.

In the case of very absorbent substrates or substrates with varied absorbency, it is recommended to use PX 07 primer in one layer.
PX 07 primer: 16.5 m²/L for one layer (60 ml/m²).
